If you have a major construction project planned for this year, such as a new home, shop, or business; don’t forget to call your utilities right away! This will avoid delays of construction, as most jobs are first called, first served. Be sure to account for all your utilities, as well, including power, water, internet and cable.
The Importance of 811 Call Before You Dig!
With the numerous fiber optic cuts that have occurred this past constructions season, it is more important than ever to remind everyone of the CALL 8-1-1 BEFORE YOU DIG law. These cuts sometimes took down services including Internet, Cable TV, Phone (which included 911 service) and cellular services. As fall has turned into winter, there was pressure to get underground work done before the ground froze, but continued cuts to our fiber created serious emergency response situations. In addition, it was very frustrating for businesses and residents when services were interrupted. We sincerely ask that both residents and con-tractors CALL BEFORE YOU DIG. Here are just a few cuts that affected customers in 2014:
- 10/8 Fiber cut affected a large section of Dickinson
- 10/1 Fiber cut North East of Dickinson including Radar Base area
- 9/25 Fiber cut affected long distance across a large section of North Dakota
- 9/25 Fiber cut between South Heart and Dickinson
