CPNI is an acronym for Customer Proprietary Network Information.
The FCC requires Consolidated to establish a record of authorized contacts and set up passwords for every business and residence to protect their privacy. We cannot discuss your account information without you providing the password to us.
For businesses, we are not allowed to discuss your account information unless the person calling us with a repair, order or changing equipment is listed as an authorized contact and can provide the company password.
This applies to residences as well. We are not allowed to discuss or change your account information unless you authorize another party on your account, whether it be your spouse, roommate or children.
If your business has added or changed employees, we need an updated list from you. If you a resident we also need you to update your account in the case of marriage, divorce, death or even change of roommate.
Why so strict? It is for your protection. If CPNI wasn’t in place, anyone, and I mean anyone can call in and say they are you and make changes that could cost you big!
