Ever wonder why the videos on Facebook are blurry? Here is a tip to clean up your timeline a bit so you can enjoy all the videos you are starting to see in HD, PLUS 4 more tips to make your Facebook experience even better.
Making sure all your videos play in HD.
Did you know that even if a video is uploaded in HD, that you might be viewing the video in HD. To make sure you are, you can click on the gear in the bottom left of the video. From here, you can select HD. If you click on More Settings, you can make HD video playback a permanent option and also decide if videos will auto-play in your timeline.
How to make sure you see all the posts from a Page / Group
Are you tired of missing posts from a favorite fan page or group you are a part of because of how Facebook can decide what is important for you and what isn’t? There is a way to make sure you always see posts from your favorite groups and page.
For Groups, you can click on Notifications and choose either all, just your friends or none. If it’s set to all or just your friends, when a post appears that matches one of those criteria, it will appear in your notifications list.
For Pages, you click on the down arrow next to “Liked” and decide how posts are displayed in your newsfeed and now notifications work. You can also click the edit pen for more options to control how this page appears in your timeline.
I don't’ recommend doing this for every page and group you are subscribed to, just the important ones for right now and occasionally change your preferences are your needs arise.
How to remove yourself from a notification chain.
Have you ever commented on a post, especially in a group and then regret it because every time someone after you posts, you get a notification? There is a quick and easy way to stop that from happening. At the top of the post in the upper right-hand corner, click the down arrow, then click on “turn off notifications for this post”. It’s that easy. People can keep competing and you won’t be bothered.
How to hide the drama, but keep the friendships on Facebook
Instead of taking the risk of insulting people in the hopes of cleaning up your Facebook timeline, you can simply unfollow them while retaining their Facebook Friendship. By unfollowing them, you will no longer see their posts in your timeline but can visit their profile as a friend at any time and message them without waiting for them to agree to chat with you. To do this, click on down arrow next Following on their Cover Images (at the time) and click on “Unfollow XXX”. You will now be free of their posts on your timeline
Making a Favorite out of a Group
Are you a member of many, worthy groups? Tired of hunting for them when you want to check something or post a new comment thread? You can make a favorite out of a group so it appears on the left-hand column of Facebook for you. To do this, click on the eclipse (three dots) next to Notifications and then click on “Add to Favorites”. To remove it from Favorites, follow the same steps, but this time, it will say “Remove from Favorites”
I hope these little things can help make Facebook a bit more enjoyable and manageable for you.
